My artistic practice revolves around observation of everyday life, encompassing subjects such as landscapes, still life, and urban scenes. In recent times, my focus has shifted towards capturing people engaged in their daily activities. Regardless of the chosen subject matter, I consistently seek out captivating compositions designed to guide the viewer’s gaze through the painting. This involves breaking down elements into patterns and directing the eye from one object to another through the use of line, colour, and form.
Within my work, I utilise a layering technique that incorporates a variety of media, including acrylics, collage, and oils. This approach is intended to create a sense of depth and enrich the surface quality of each piece. My inspiration is drawn from both historical and contemporary sources, notably the colourists of the past such as the fauvists as well as modern art movements.
