Observation of an allotment in Bakewell using acrylic on acrylic paper, measuring 29.7 x 42 cm and presented unframed.
In this scene, the composition unfolds with found objects repurposed by gardeners, which become structural anchors: greenhouses, beds and plant supports shape the visual narrative and serve as conduits for the viewer’s gaze. In the foreground, the magnificent dahlias pull attention forward, while the distant houses beckon the eye deeper into the painting. On the right, two figures lean over a fence, guiding the gaze towards the
heart of the story. This painting was used for an article in the Artist and Illustrator July Issue Step by Step article.
